EFIG News
Education gives the most deprived girls a chance for an improved future, and a chance to avoid the worst poverty.
EFIG’s operations are carried out in its 3 West African branches in Lagos, Port Harcourt & Accra in the deprived shanty towns where the children live. There are no toilet facilities, water or electricity, and no playgrounds.
EFIG started sponsoring girls in 2005 as founder Gladys Simeon knew that education would literally change their lives. After 12 years feeding the girls, helping with any emergency medical assistance & sponsoring the girls through school , EFIG has got a couple of girls in university (being paid for by EFIG), dozens of girls have been set up in business by Efig’s Employment & Enterprise scheme which helps them get employment, train in whatever field they want to work in such as nursing or give them money/assistance to set them up in business. This is the final end of the cycle after the education EFIG makes sure they either get relevant employment or give them financial assistance to set up their own business…financial independence/female empowerment being the end goal.
